The Prescott Russell Recreational Trail (PR Trail) is looking forward to a summer of celebrations for its 20th anniversary with events along the Trail.
The first major event will happen at the Bourget Market (181 Levis Street) on Saturday, July 19, featuring the brand new beer, Trail Signs, brewed by Broken Stick Brewery in Hammond. The enhanced market will have samples from the new fundraising beer as well as treats and games for kids young and old from 10am until 2pm.
“We’re excited to celebrate and showcase the Trail all summer long for its big 2-0,” said Eric Collard, Executive Director for the Trail. “We know people in the region love it and we’re looking forward to having more locals and tourists enjoy it for its third decade and beyond.”
The partnership includes part of the beer proceeds going to the Trail with $2 from every pint and $1 from every can going towards maintenance and special projects. Trail Signs is an extra pale ale that sits at 4% ABV and has crisp, hoppy and refreshing notes, conceived with active people in mind.
“We’re excited to partner with the Trail with our new brew,” added Aaron Merkel, co-owner of the Brewery. “It’s a no-brainer for us as we love the Trail and getting people to hydrate and relax after some exercise.”
The Trail started operating as a rail trail in 2005 after the conversion from a railroad. The nonprofit corporation took over operations and ownership in December 2021, with many new programs and enhancements happening for the Trail and the communities it serves.
Other anniversary events will include a celebration in Alfred-Plantagenet as well as a bike parade and mini-market at the St-Eugene Pavilion on Sunday, August 10 from noon to 3pm.
The beer will be available at the Brewery located at the Hammond Golf Course (600 Du Golf Road) and through some special partnerships with other Trail partners.
