Full steam ahead for the Bourget Train Station Redevelopment, grand opening expected in 2026

The team behind the redevelopment of the Bourget Train Station was excited to welcome the community and all its partners for a quick glimpse of the $1.5M community investment today. The event also discussed the importance of the building to the community and the Trail.

“We’re excited to have come to an agreement with a solid local group to redevelop this important historical local point of interest, said Mario Zanth, Mayor, City of Clarence-Rockland and Warden for the United Counties of Prescott Russell. “The importance of the $1.5M redevelopment cannot be overstated for Bourget and all the communities along the Trail.”

New renderings of the plan for the redeveloped train station in Bourget were showcased and a photo was taken with some of the key partners.

“This will make the first major installation along the Trail,” added Michel Villeneuve, President of the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail. “We can’t wait to start hosting more local cyclists, runners, walkers and snowmobile enthusiasts as well as tourists in and around the train station starting later in 2026.”

A website, bourgettrainstation.ca, has been created to keep the local community and all of its partners abreast of the progress. Weekly updates are planned when the major work has commenced.

“We know the train station has been a local institution since the 1890’s,” explained Aaron Markel, Bourget Train Station Developer. “We will be reusing as many materials as we can and we promise to be true to the classic look and feel in our redesign.”
